12 S5 Secrets Out at Pesca's with Vegas Gray
Rachel and I headed up to Pesca by Michael’s, perched on top of the Hyatt in Vilano Beach. It’s one of those places that’s not super obvious from the street, but once you’re up there, it’s like, “Ohhh okay, I get the hype now.” Rooftop views, live music, pink blankets, and Brussels sprouts that low-key stole the show.
Let’s talk about the weather first. It was one of those Florida nights where it pretends it’s winter. We’re talking 65 degrees and breezy. Technically not cold by Midwest standards, but we both had our jackets and backup layers ready. Rachel had her classic oversized denim jacket, and I went full red-lip mode. I don’t get a lot of excuses to pull out the bold colors down here, so when I do — I go for it.
We got there just as things were getting going. Rachel picked a spot in the shade (bold move for a chilly night), but I rolled with it. To Pesca’s credit, they had it figured out — pink blankets were laid out everywhere, and the servers even walked around handing them out. Bonus points for style and function.
Inside (well, technically outside), the space was simple but polished. Cactus-style plants framed the skyline, heaters were going strong, and there were just enough different types of seating to fit the mood — couches, bar tops, regular tables. And their drinkware? Top tier. I know it sounds small, but sipping out of a fish-shaped glass makes everything 10% more fun. It was social media picture worthy!
Food-wise — let me just say this: the Brussels sprouts slapped. Roasted just right, a little bit of sweetness, and blue cheese crumbles that were doing the most in the best way. I’ve already added “get blue cheese” to my grocery list. They might’ve been the real MVP of the night.
We managed to snap some photos before the sun totally disappeared. The view was solid from both sides — waves rolling in on one side, the Vilano Bridge lighting up on the other. Oh, and I got a slow-motion video of the fire heater that I’m irrationally proud of. You’ll probably see it in the Facebook Group.
But let’s get to why we were really there: Vegas Gray; An 80s rock cover band.
This was my first time seeing them, but Rachel’s been a fan. And now I totally get it. They’re a trio — dad, daughter, and the daughter’s boyfriend — and they’ve got real chemistry on stage. The dad was leading things vocally and on guitar, chatting between songs, throwing in little jokes, and just keeping the crowd with him the whole time. You can tell they love what they’re doing, and it shows. Their sound was strong, clean, and better than most local acts I’ve heard. Honestly, it didn’t feel like background music — people were into it. I started singing along before I even sat down.
There were some good people-watching moments too. A table nearby was celebrating someone’s 67th birthday (goals), and then there was a kid wrapped in a blanket on the couch looking so done. He was giving full “get me out of here” vibes while his family was jamming out. Classic.
By the end of the night, everyone was wrapped up, drinks in hand, and fully settled into the atmosphere. There weren’t any over-the-top moments, no big announcements or surprises — just good food, good music, and good company. Which, honestly, is the whole point.
If you haven’t checked out Pesca yet, it’s worth a visit. And if you see Vegas Gray on the schedule? Definitely try to catch them live. They bring the kind of energy that makes you want to hang out just a little longer.
